Going

The day I left you
I stood in the alleyway;
I noticed that the forsythia had bloomed
next to my dead grandpa’s Crown Vic,
that my uncle had driven to get me.
I felt the weight of eyes
watching through mini-blind slats,
knowing I was leaving for good this time
because I didn’t take anything with me.
